Vintage MCM Blue Mountain Pottery Canada ' BMP ' Studio Cut Vase Red & White

We have a vintage MCM vase. Manufactured by Blue Mountain Pottery Canada Studio. Made in Collingwood, Ontario, Canada. The glaze is a rare red reduction resolve on white. There are also smoky browns and greys through out the glaze. The bottom stamp that reads "BMP CANADA" dates this vase between the mid 50's to the mid 60's.
After a days research we ended up using the Blue Mountain Pottery Collectors Club information, we deduced that this va...se was made from a standard BMP mold for bulb vases. These mold made vases came in the Green Harvest, Golden Harvest, and sometimes Cobalt Blue glazes. We took the following ideas from the article written by Pat Pitcher, an educated and avid collector from the BMP Collector Club.
BMP studios had commissioned pieces, as well, hosted in-house artist original pieces for sale in factory shop or studio only. That means this vase was not a catalog issue. The artist that created this one-of-a-kind BMP vase, used a square cut out technique, as pictured. Interesting to see that the cut out pieces of red clay fell inside, and are fired and slightly glazed white and red on the inside bottom of the vase.
There is an etched "B" on the base, over the 'BMP CANADA' stamp. We feel this is either a stock keeping, or, design code letter. Additionally, the 'B' could be the initial of the artist or commissioned client that made or requested the piece in the Collingwood, Ontario factory shop or studio direct.
This unique piece of Canadiana Art Pottery history measures 8.5 inches tall, 4.25 inches wide, and 13.25 inches around at widest point. There is a chip on the top rim. Well hidden due to the other spots where the white and red glaze didn't fire over the red clay. This was, and is, a natural happening with individual pieces in the kiln.
