Up for sale is this Original WWII Japanese Army Officer’s Shin Gunto / Sword. This sword has a 22.25" single edged forged blade, 1.125" wide at collar, 33.5"overall length. Nakago (tang) is unsigned shows two holes. Brass habaki (collar) with three serrated-edged seppa (spacers) and lobate tsuba (guard) with cherry blossoms on corners. Three additional seppa leading to shagreen-covered tsuka (handle) with tan cotton ito (wrapping)and cherry blossom menuki ...(ornaments). Laquered wood saya (scabbard) with some leather covering remaining. Likely an older sword in military mounts. The condition is Fair. Blade is mostly bright with some scattered rust and oxidation. Edge has some minor deformities. Habaki shows a crack along its front edge with seppa spaced in a strange order, some upside-down. Tsuba shows a thin layer of rust with dirty ito showing some areas of tearing and unraveling. Some chipping of lacquer with missing sections of leather.
