This token is believed to have been struck in the given year of 1884. It appears to be solid gold of about 10K fineness most likely alloyed with copper. Possibly brass or copper with a layer of gold plating. This piece is smaller than a dime and weigh...s about 0.16 grams.
This token is catalogued by Locke as a Round 1884 Arms of California 1/2. It has an A.O.C. #1 obverse and a continuous Wreath #2 reverse. The water lines left and right of bear indicate that this is an early die state. What a rare collector's piece this is!
