Beautiful antique and rare bronze medal of Portuguese navigator Fernão de Magalhães. This medal has been made by the famous Portuguese sculptor Vasco Berardo.Only 500 were produced, this being the 280.The medal shows in the main side a figure of the navigator Fernão de Magalhães, and a ship on the back with other human figures representing diferent nations. The reverse shows a brief description about the navigator represented, its history and achievments in the navigation in t...he period of the Maritime discoveries, with the inscription: "Fernão de Magalhães, is very precisely among the greatest navigators of the period of the discoveries. He conceived and prepared the realization of the most extraordinary of the journeys then made: the first circumnavigation of the terrestrial globe.".The measures are: 9 cm high (3.54 inches), and 6 cm (2.36 inches) width. Weigh 195 grams (6.87 oz).
