WW2 Scarce!! Earliest!! USMC USN “Compass, Magnetic, MC-1 / Marine Compass Co.” Survival. Wrist. Complete with an issue USN “Tie-Tie” with the Metal-seized ends!Here’s one that RARELY shows up!Markings in raised letters on the base read, ”WT. .08 LBS. / U.S.””NO. NC-1 / MARINE COMPASS CO.””CONTRACT / N383-7 3037A””COMPASS, MAGNETIC, CARD POCKET / MC-1”This is a well-designed Pilot’s / Aviator’s Survival Vest item, but quite certainly made its way (by “re...quisition”) to ground troops in the Pacific theater since personnel in the Naval Service served alongside one another.- Plexiglass housing is in EXCELLENT Condition. Radium-filled Sighting ALIGNMENT LINE on the top with notched rim.- This was the EARLIEST of the two USN BuAero/USMC  Survival compasses that preceded the Army-issued Bakelite “TAYLOR” Model as well as the OD plastic Corps of Engineers “SUPERIOR MAGNETO CORPORATION” Model.- Radium-tipped Dial rotates freely to Magnetic North.- Folding Wire-Loops operate smoothly. This earliest boxed model did not come with a wrist strap.NOTE!The other Wrist Compass is NOT part of this sale, but are only shown to illustrate the differences!
