Symbol of FriendshipWe are offering this beautiful and original Auböck paperweight in the design of a hand. The hand is a symbol of friendship and would be very suitable as a gift. The design dates back to the 1950s. The object is handmade in Austria in the Auböck workshop (Vienna, Bernardgasse) which is now run by Carl Auböck IV. The object is marked with "Auböck". The material is polished brass. As the Aubock designs are all handmade in limited issues, variations between different objects is normal. They are handmade in Austria. The object is massive and 85mm (3.3 inches) long.Please see my other listings as I offer many beautiful objects from the Auböck Workshop!!

Worldwide shipping at flat rate by registered parcel mail with tracking number. I charge less than the actual shipping costs are. A short introduction about the Werkstätte Carl Auböck
Der Wiener Maler und Designer Carl Auböck II zählt zu den bemerkenswertesten Künstlerpersönlichkeiten Österreichs. Nach einer vielseitigen Ausbildung (1914-17 Lehre als Bronzearbeiter und Ziseleur im elterlichen Betrieb, 1917-19 Studium an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Wien, 1919-21 Schüler von Johannes Itten am Bauhaus in Weimar) übernahm er 1926 die väterliche Werkstatt in Wien VII, Bernardgasse 23. Anfang der 40er Jahre entwickelte Auböck jenen unverkennbaren Stil für Gebrauchs-gegenstände gehobenener Wohnkultur, der ihn nach Ende des Krieges im In- und Ausland berühmt machte. Den Höhepunkt bildete die Mailänder Triennale 1954, auf der Auböck vier Goldmedaillen für sein Werk erhielt.
Nach seinem Tod führte sein Sohn Carl Auböck III (1924 – 1993), gemeinsam mit seiner Frau Justine, die Werkstätte weiter. Er hatte zuvor ein Architekturstudium in Wien und den USA absolviert, was auch in seinen an das „Industrial Design“ anschließenden Entwürfen zum Ausdruck kommt. Neben der Tätigkeit als Meisterklasseleiter an der Hochschule für Angewandte Kunst in Wien seit 1977 und seinem internationalen Engagement für Architektur, Design, Produktentwicklung und Forschung, entstehen laufend neue Modelle für die Kollektion der Werkstätte. In dieser Zeit entwickelt sich der Betrieb zu einer Produktionsstätte von internationalem Rang. Auböck Design wird in den folgenden Jahrzehnten in allen Metropolen bei den ersten Adressen (Tiffany, Saks, Harrods) angeboten. Seine Nachkommen Maria und Carl Auböck führen die Werkstätte seit dem Tod ihres Vaters weiter und wollen so an das Werk Ihrer Vorfahren anknüpfen.

I am located in Vienna, Austria, EU and ship from here. Although all parcels go by airmail, sometimes it can take a bit longer than expected. An average parcel, e.g. to the USA, takes about 10-14 business days to arrive. Sometimes it can also take 3-4 weeks. There are customs and security checks involved that sometimes delay the shipment.
Especially smaller parcels (up to 1kg), get in many cases upgraded at my costs to priority parcel mail (depends on the weight and destination). Still there is no guaranteed shipping time.
Carriers I use are the Austrian Post and sometimes smaller carriers like Hermes and GLS. In your country the parcels will be delivered with a local carrier (e.g. USPS in the USA).
