Original Description:
Downsizing a china and silver collection of almost 50 years. This listing is for a very rare and highly collectible pair of Gaudy Welsh porcelain plates made in Swansea, Wales ca. 1817-1820. The pattern is no. 219 and is entirely hand painted in the Imari palette. It features light blue cactus surmounted by an exotic bird and three floral cartouches on a cobalt blue band heavily accented with gold. The plates are in amazing condition, especially considering their 200 year age.... There are no chips, cracks, crazing or discoloration. The colors are bright and there are no surface marks except for some rubbing to the inner gold band, probably due to stacking (zoom in on the pictures). The plates are 8" in diameter, and both are marked on the reverse with the crossed tridents used by Swansea Pottery at that time. I will pack these very carefully and shipping is free in the United States.
