Description: Up for sale is abeautiful Adams Ironstone Calyx Ware Singapore Bird (Newer Backstamp) Single(1) 9” Oval Vegetable Serving Bowl. At the time this listing was created, manyplace settings, extra pieces, and serving pieces were available in this patternas well as many other brands and patterns, so be sure and check out my manyother lots! The serving bowl measures approximately 9.5” in the oblongdimension and has a pastel green base with a multi-color floral and birdpattern.... The set has been discontinued and a date of manufacture is unknown. Mostpieces in the set are marked with the following backstamp: “Calyx Ware, RealEnglish Ironstone, Adams, Made in England, Established 1657, Singapore Bird”with other pieces having a slight variation of that backstamp.
Condition: Please notethat the bowl is NOT “like new” and shows signs of use and age; however, nochips or cracks were noticed upon a careful examination. The piece does havesome light crazing. The crazing is minor and is only visible in certain light.The crazing present is not “dirty” and has not fully penetrated the piece toform a crack or to allow dirt into the craze. Additionally, the piece showssome light utensil and cleaning scratching/swirling to the glaze and paint. Somevery light areas of missing paint due to these light scratches is also present.A few minor manufacturing defects are also present (mainly minor imperfectionsto the glaze). Lastly, the piece may show some very minor fading to theblue/green base color in some areas due to age and use. Overall though, Ido not feel that the condition of the piece has been severely compromised.
