HISTORY
Jugtown Pottery was originally established in 1921 by Jacques and Juliana Busbee. The Busbees marketed the art pottery from a store they established in Greenwich Village, New York. Vernon Owens was hired as a potter in 1960 and by 1983 had purchased the pottery. Jugtown Pottery focuses on the production of simple utilitarian pottery wares with salt glazes so typical of the historical pottery produced in the area for many years.
DESCRIPTION
This listing is for a signed and dated 1996 Vernon Owens Jugtown salt glazed earthenware art pottery stick vase. This vase carries a bulbous shape with tapers to a delicate neck opening. A double row of linear banding decorates the bulbous body of the vase. The vase is glazed in matte blue with a salt glazed style surface. The bottom carries the Jugtown pottery stamped signature mark, the initials of Vernon Owen VO, and the date 1996.
CONDITION
This 1996 Jugtown art pottery stick vase is in wonderful condition, free of any signs of damage such as chips, cracks, craze lines, flea bites, and repairs. This Jugtown Pottery vase has come from a smoke free estate collection and is odor free.
