Very Rare and original, ca1880’s Cabinet Card Photograph of a Native American Plains Indian Brave / Warrior holding an oversize Bow and Arrow. This outstanding, period, Card Mount Photograph measures approx. 3 7/8” by 6” and is mounted on its original Card Mount (overall size is 4 1/4” by 6 1/2”). Neither the subject nor the photographer is identified in any way.
The Image is a Full-length studio portrait of a young Brave with long hair wearing a fu...r and feather headdress, plaid shirt, additional elaborate garb and tall hide moccasins. He stands holding a large bow and oversize arrow that appear to be photographer’s props. There is no imprint on the mount but this is surely a Northern Plains Studio Image.
This wonderful, original, Cabinet Card Photograph is in very good condition. The Image exhibits sharp focus, strong contrast and rich, warm tonality. The Photo is generally crisp and clean with a tiny nick along the bottom edge and the card mount has some light soiling and light edge wear.
