&nbs...p;This wonderful Northern Plains Woman’s Dress is thread sewn and features a zig-zag lane of beadwork embellish across the front and back of the upper chest. The beadwork is executed using colors of sky blue, dark blue, white, orange and red. There is a stunning line of long, rawhide fringe at the arm openings as well as along the hemline. The double strand, rawhide drops are strung with basket beads as can be seen in the scans below. The Dress is made from a wonderfully soft, brain tanned hide.

It is NOT a reproduction or modern recreation but an original Sioux Fringed and bead decorated Hide Dress crafted in the third quarter of the 20th century. This rare and very beautiful, ca1950’s Northern Plains Indian Bead Decorated Dress is in very good condition. All of the hide elements are well preserved and sound – soft and supple with very minimal, light soiling only. There is a small, oval patch on the front of the Dress on and above the lane of beadwork at the center of the neckline however this is not a repair but rather done to fill in a flaw in the hide at the time the Dress was manufactured. There is a similar patch near the hemline on the left side of the Dress. The beadwork is well preserved with no loss or damage. The hide fringe is also very well preserved with no damage or loss. All of the double strand, rawhide drops are present.
