This is an ultra rare Mormon LDS document that was sent to the U.S. Senate in 1849 seeking Statehood for the region settled by the Mormons out West that they named Deseret. It was a large land area that had no real laws or rules at the time and the Mormon settlers hoped to incorporate it as a state in order to change that. This document is 14 pages long and describes the boundaries of Deseret. It also includes the Constitution of Deseret that had been created earlier that year at a convent...ion at the Great Salt Lake City. The pamphlet is folded but not stitched or stapled and is exceedingly rare to find. It measures approx. 6 1/4" by 9 1/2".
