This is a very nice condition Australian made Coleman 249 kerosene pressure lantern, made in the Sydney factory and dated May 1951. There is a panel of printing on the back below the pump attesting to the licensing arrangements with Coleman Canada for the production here in Australia. The tank is undented, but it has started to dull a little, could do with a polish, but not by me. The bottom has a tiny rust spot, the balance is the original plating over the steel. There is a smal...l patch below the pump where the nickel has lifted from the rim, exposing what could be copper. I have seen Aussie lamps and lanterns made using both copper and brass, especially just after the end of the war. Original glass has no chips or cracks, marked 'Coleman - Pyrex 550 globe'. Hood is very c lean with a couple of tiny spots on the top. I have cleaned the workings and fitted new gaskets as well as a new generator, a great collectable.
