Description
Vintage Royal Bonn (Steingut-Fabrik und Kunsttöpferei F.A. Mehlem) vase is from an estate here in Florida. The vase bears the red "Royal Bonn GERMANY" crest with "F A M" initials and "1755" used by the Cologne, Germany porcelain works from 1890 until 1920. The vase has a striking Art Nouveau form with heavily embossed floriform tendrils creating the handles. The hand painted unde...r glaze décor features a large floral spray on one face and a smaller blossom on the reverse. The palette is done in rich organic shades with greens, yellows and red.
The piece has a nice presence measuring 8" high, 7" wide and 2" across the top rim. The base bears the production numbers "6024, 245, "3729/9". The vase has signs of its age, gold enamel at the opening has signs of wear, crazing on a couple areas, and at the dark blue area at base (please review the photos for a more visual description of the vase. Even with these signs of wear, this would make a fine addition to any collection of antique Royal Bonn porcelains or Art Nouveau decorative arts for a price reflective of "Father Time".
