Original Description:
With its bombe variant "double c" thumb piece, twin spiral handle terminal and denticulated lid, this early and rare pewter dome lidded tankard from the Dr. Ian Robinson collection is believed to have been made by William Ford of Wigan. The tankard's features are similar to those seen with flat lidded tankards of the same period. A comparable piece is shown in Peter Hornsby's Pewter of the Western World, 1600 to 1850 (photo 915). A WF maker's mark is still visible on the inside bottom ...and appears to match the one shown in Cotterell's Old Pewter, Its Makers and Marks (#5605).

This is a gorgeous tankard, stunning in both color and form.
