This attractive dome lid tankard with its "plume and beads' thumb piece and spade handle terminal comes from the collection of Dr. Ian Robinson. He speculated that the "IH" mark, partially legible on the inside bottom, was that of John Hardman of Wigan (whose working dates were 1693 to 1743; see “The Neish Pewter Collection", p. 109). My father referenced the Pewter Society data base, #5036 as well as the Pewter Society Journal, Autumn 2003, pp 44, 45 and 47.
This tankard is ...said to have had repairs to both the thumb piece and the lid attachment, as shown in the photos. It stands about 5 inches tall to its lip, and 6 and 7/8 inches to the top of the thumb piece.
