This pipe is discounted for two reasons, the surface fissures shown in the photos on one side, and the stem is needed to be repaired with wood filler also shown in the photos. It does still have an air tight seal with a decent draw. You are looking at ceremonial prayer “four winds”style peace pipe bowl made from genuine pipestone which was quarried from the sacred pipestone quarries at Pipestone National Monument located near by. the decorative rings on the top of the pipe bowl giv...ing it the “four winds” style are to honor each of the directions. North, South, East, and West. The bowl itself measures 5-3/4” long and stands 3-1/2 inches tall. The stem measures 18 inches long connected with the pipe the total length is right around 23 inches long. The bowl is gorgeous bottom layer pipestone. The bowl is basically a solid deep dark red through out the entire pipe with one cluster of spots up front on the nose on one side.The pipe is drilled straight and has a tight seal of pipe to stem also giving it an excellent draw. - as stated the stem was repaired with a wood filler which is shown in the photos.It is new, will be fully functional, although I would recommend this pipe spends its life in a collection given the discounted reasons. — never been used or blessed. It would also make a fine addition to any personal collection should the buyer decide not to use it as a functional pipe. The stem is made from California Redwood. it is sanded smooth and rubbed with an oil to high light the natural wood Beauty. This stem is beaded using deer hide leather fringes and an assortment of random colored beads.I have signed the pipe “Loud Thunder” as that is my given Indian name. I am a 5th generation pipe maker.
