Describes the line of the navigable canals and the course of the rivers passed over. The number of houses and Inhabitants contained in each town. And those Inns which supply Post Horses and Carriages. Also The Inns throughout the Metropolis from which the Mail and Stage Coaches go and their departure & Route they severally take. The Noblemen Gentlemen's Seats situate near the roads, All of the packet boats and their time of sailing. Copious Indexes Maps of the Isle of Wight Environs of London Bath Brighton Margate Cheltenham and large map of England and Wales, peculiarly adapted to the Work.
FIFTH EDITION "containing upwards of 9000 Additional Places" London printed by J Cary 1812. followed by an Advertisement, Table of Contents, Index of Direct Roads from London, An Alphabetically Arrangement of Principal Places that occur the Routes fo the Cross Roads, Coach Directory Index of Places, maps, Cary's New Intinerary from Surveys, 1-941. Packed with information, stagecoach routes and timetables, names and places.CONDITION Externally the book is in contemporary half leather binding. The title is on the spine. Overall condition - fair/good - the book has some handling wear/rubbing etc. Both boards are holding well - see images. Internally the book is in overall good condition. The text is generally clean and bright with some expected handling wear. The large fold-out map has wear and verso is rather spoiled but is all there and could be restored with some TLC. All other fold-out maps are present and in good condition (a tad of edgewear to one plate)
