Great example of an original Antique 18th century single brass candlestick. This style of "Federal" candleholder dates to the period of the American Revolution.
The piece features a classic "push up" style in which an iron rod runs the length of the candleholder finished with a brass end cap internally as well as a bottom push up tab.
The user wou...ld push up this mechanism to work out the wax or tallow candle.
Many of this style were produced in England during the period and brought stateside during the Colonial era, likewise many tradesmen here in New England began making the same style once they established metalworking shops.
Stands 5 1/4" tall with a base measurement of 2 5/8" x 2 5/8".
Some pitting to the brass work from age as one would expect, small bend 1/4" on the edge of the drip pan, though overall very good condition.
