This is a Japanese WWll sword in civilian mountings. The blade is signed "Bishu Asai ju Kanemitsu saku, kao 尾州浅井住兼光作 花押". "Hachiman Daibosatsu 八幡大菩薩", shinogi-zukuri shape, WWll time period ca.1940 era made blade. Kanemitsu lived in Aichi prefecture, made swords during WWll time. The blade is hand forged, in old polish, no rust, no stain and in good condition. ...; The temper line is wavy notare with konie active temper pattern throughout the blade and has deep temper at the point. Forging grain is tight ko-itame hada, no openings, no blister and no forging flaws at all. There is no bend, no nick, no crack and cutting edge is sharp. It is mounted in civilian mountings, the scabbard is lacquered wood scabbard, no crack, no bend and in good condition. The handle is tight fit with brass fuchi/kashira, tsuka-ito wrapping is no cut, no loose also in good condition. Tsuba is marugata shape brass inlay iron sukashi tsuba with nice patina. It measures 28+3/4" tip to the guard, 27+3/4" cutting edge, 1+1/4" width, 7 mm thickness at the notch and 41+1/4" in mountings.
