Original Description:
Offered here is a very pleasing antique Scottish embroidery sampler by Jane Douglas, aged 13 of Netherton School, which features bands of alphabets and numerals above a charming depiction of a pair of nesting birds, all surrounded by a border of strawberry plants. The sampler measures 17 1/4" x 11 1/2" and is card mounted in a vintage ebonised wood frame (glass removed for safe shipping). It is in nice condition as per my photos showing some fading to some of the original colours and t...wo small moth losses to the strawberry border. There is also some ragging to the extreme folded over edges which were glued to both card and frame - not visible from the front. This lovely old sampler is offered here with a low price start and no reserve.This is one of a 'pair' of sister's samplers (see last photo).
