This CDV of Pleasant Taylor was likely taken between June 11 and July 1865, in Louisville, Kentucky, where the unit mustered out on July 23. Pleasant enlists early on in September 1861, at the age of 18, and is with his unit the entire time until he is severely wounded by being shot in the right arm on August 15, 1864, near Atlanta.... His right arm was amputated. He was promoted to Sergeant August 31, 1864. Pleasant miraculously rejoins his unit in May 1865 thru July.
CDV is signed on the front and has a tax stamp on the back. In addition there is a circular photographer's stamp "Webster and Bro. Louisville, KY, 1865." One can easily see evidence of his amputated right arm as it appears his right uniform sleeve just hangs. Also included are his extensive military service and pension records.
