Up for auction is an excellent, hollow-carved Premier Grade Hen Bluebill made by the Mason decoy factory, Detroit, ca. 1910. The decoy is in original paint with some moderate wear from use including typical rubs to the bill, head and end of the tail. The neck filler has been replaced with some minor touch-up to this area. There is a very tight check in the back and it the bird shows some slight separation at the midline body seam on the left side and tail.&n...bsp; It has a few shot marks on the left and right sides. The paint is nice and strong on this 100+ year old decoy with good scalloping around the breast and very good feather painting on the back toward the tail. Both old glass eyes are good and original. “MT” has been carved into the underside of the tail. This is a very good example of Mason’s highest grade output.
