Striking, gilt overlay on glass or crystal with detailed French Empire style bronze base, made by Paul Canaux & Cie – Ouevres stamped with the with the makers marks of Paul Canaux, circa 1888 - 1911. Stamped on the side of the bronze portion of the vase is "Paul Canaux & Cie – Ouevres". This form of the Paul ...Canaux makers mark was used circa 1888 - 1911. Paul Canaux was a jeweler and silversmith, and his glass and bronze creations are very scarce. The vase is in very well preserved condition with the glass portion showing no chips or cracks save for very minor wear of the gilt portion. Measures 2.75" in diameter and 7" in height. Please see pictures for the overall condition. Paul Canaux based his sponsor’s mark (an anvil as symbol) on that of his predecessor Mégemond. He was a manufacturer of silverware, cutlery, tea sets, centerpieces, and serving dishes.
