Small early 19th century oval silk work - c.1820. This little silk work is completely charming with fine quality stitch work throughout. The backing silk is stitched with a delightful image of a thrush standing on a stem of blue bell shaped flowers. The backing silk is darker around the edges with several areas of splitting, some more pronounced than others. There is an area of damage approximately half an inch in size to the right of the thrush's legs which has a loose fragment of silk... on it which seems to be sitting on some sort of woollen wadding. The silk work is behind glass so I'm not able to see the reverse, but the colours of the silk appear good though they are likely to have mellowed to some extent over the years. The silk work is contained within its seemingly original hand carved frame with replacement backing board. The frame has several areas of old damage and has been over painted at some point of time. Measures 7" x 8" (sight size) and 9" x 10" including the frame. PLEASE NOTE - ANY MARKS ETC ON THE PHOTOGRAPHS WHICH I'VE NOT ALREADY MENTIONED ARE FROM THE GLARE AND REFLECTION OF THE GLASS AND NOT ON THE SILK WORK ITSELF. ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE ASK.
