You're bidding on "London - The Bastion Of Liberty" - a fairly large (49 1/2" X 40") color lithograph poster-style wall map - bottom-marked as "Produced by Glen Freebairn & Associates for Pictorial Maps, Ltd., 4 Clement's Inn, London, WC2", and printed by Johnson, Riddle & Co. I have not been able to find out a lot about this map or the makers, other than that it was first published post-WWII in the late 1940s and throughout the 1950s - as evidenced by the prominent Chuchill qu...ote below the title ("We would rather see London in ruins and in ashes than that it should be tamely and abjectly enslaved") - probably as a tourism poster, and perhaps also for re-sale as a tourist souvenir. A fun illustrated map depicting Central London in great detail, with all of the historic building & landmarks, along with iconography, historical references and vignettes. Note some issues of condition. - there is some staining on the back-side with a bit of visible bleed-thru in the area of the Churchill quote and at top right corner; Also some chipping in the margins, primarily at the corners, and a reseller's label and pencil notation at bottom right corner - See photos. Poster is in a rolled up state, with some attendant light wrinkle and crease evident. Also some tack holes in the margin and one small horizontal tear at right-center edge. All that said, apparently a scarce-to-find piece in decent condition for age and type, with great color. Please review photos carefully to make your own determination of overall condition and appeal, and don't hesitate to ask any questions prior to bidding - thanks for looking!
