THE BEST Antique Original 16th Century Brass Mid -Drip Heemskerk Candlestick Circa 1550 -1600 Just As Seen in Reference Books of Period Lighting! - A SCARCE EARLY MUSEUM QUALITY EXAMPLE!

This piece was purchased out of a Private New England Lighting Estate assembled decades and decades ago focusing on period early lighting and metalware. This piece has not been ...brought to market and was assembled by a collector who traveled extensively to find original period 16th and 17th century lighting. We have purchased a handful of these Early Brass Candlesticks out of said collection. Each was found tucked away in a corner cupboard and are in the condition they were found. They were literally unmoved or handled for an untold number of years.
This candlestick has centuries worth of character and patina. We strongly advise against trying to polish a candlestick such as this as its taken hundreds and hundreds of years to display itself in its original presentation.Circa 1550-1600 this is an earlier form of a Dutch Heemskerk Candlestick witha typical mid drip candle pan; European in original tradesmith.This example is in a great period form and again a rather early example.
About Very Good- condition on the piece, though soley indicative of age related wear. The top stem and base of the piece are joined at the underside with rivet that does allow the stem of the piece to rotate someone, loosened slightly from expected age. The piece does not "wobble" much but the base can be turned in a circular motion against the stem of the candlestick.
Brass has an almost "bell brass" Patina to it with some copper attributes surely in the metal quality and is often seen on pre 17th century examples.
Please take a moment to view all the images. Stands approximately 12 1/4" tall with a base diameter of 4 1/2".Similar designs can be seen in countless reference books on the subject of 16th/17th century lighting.
HEAVY example. As evident of the sand cast construction on the underside. The piece has a weight of 4lbs 3oz.
