For sale is a superb figurine of a pair of falcon birds made by Meissen during the Pfeiffer period of the 20th century. I think the official name is noble falcon pair on rocks and it was designed in 1908 by Hermann Fritz for the 200 year anniversary of Meissen that was happening in 1910. At the time, they were part of the large exhibition in tribute to king Frederick Augustus of Saxony and held in honor of the big anniversary. This pair of falcons is one of the figurines regarded... as one of the most beautiful examples of Meissen porcelain in the Jugendstil period style. The figure is modeled superbly and hand painted to perfection with the rare under glaze colors ( Scharffeuerfarben ) Meissen used occasionally on figures of this period. A really nice early version of this model. The colors look quite stunning and their pose is perfect! The figurine is in great condition with two chips along the base edge, a small flat chip to an inside wing and a firing flaw along a mold line that appears to have been worked on when it was made by a repairer as shown which does not affect the piece at all and it displays superbly. It is marked on the base edge with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark with the dot between the tops and underneath with the usual impressed / incised and painter's marks as shown. The piece is 12.625 inches tall, 9 inches wide and 7.5 inches deep. It is a very heavy figurine! antique German Germany 20thC Falkenpärchen Vogelfigur Vogel
