2 (a Pair) Antique George Jones RHAPSODY BLACK Square Plates pre 1921 NICE Condition
We're pleased to present this pair of square salad or sandwich plates by George Jones & Sons of England, Manufacturers of decorative earthenware and majolica-style wares c.1861-1951.
These plates are from the "Rhapsody" pattern line, and are in the hard to find black version of the design. Each measuring 8.25" wide (measuring straight across, ...not corner to corner), these plates feature a white embossed floral and fern design, with an enameled multicolor floral motif in the center.
The mark on the back gives us a good idea of the age - according to ThePotteries dot org website, this mark was "pre-1921" since it just says "England" and not "Made in England". The mark also does NOT have the word "Crescent", which was used AFTER 1924. These however DO have the US Patent Number shown, so I'm not positive what that suggests regarding date - I haven't been able to locate that information.
Regardless - these are antique or near antique, within a couple of years of 100 years old or more.
In very good condition, with no chips, cracks, or heavy crazing. You may find a scratch or two from normal storage/stacking, and just age.
