Antique English Jaquesof London Staunton Ebony & Boxwood Library Size British Chess SetHere is a beautiful antique library sized chess set made inEngland by Jaques of London circa 1930. This nicely weighted set was skillfully carved from Ebony and Boxwoodwith “Broadbent” style knights in Jaques Staunton pattern made famous by Jaquesof London in 1849. Both kings arestamped “Jaques London” in red on their bases. In addition, there is a red crown mark stamped o...n the top of one knightand one rook from both sides so as to help players identify the king’s siderook and knight. The king measures 2.8inches (71mm) tall with a base diameter of approximately 1.25 inches (32mm). The set is complete and in excellent condition with a small chip to the blackKing’s cross and a small chip to one black pawn’s base being the only conditionissues I can see. The set comes in aperiod correct Jaques of London slide top wood box with the original label.
