Featured in this auction is an amazing cabinet vase made by Rookwood Pottery. The vase is in excellent, near-mint condition with no chips, no cracks, no crazing and no repairs. There are glaze skips and drips along with tiny glaze pinholes. This piece is just over 5-1/4" tall, 4" wide at the body, and 2" wide at the mouth. The base of the pottery is stamped with the Rookwood Pottery flame mark, the shape number 2218 and the production year XXI (1921). Stil...t marks are visible. This ovoid-shaped vase features a collared rim and an intricate arts-and-crafts fretwork pattern that decorates the shoulder. This gorgeous glaze is a rich, matte mauve or mulberry underglaze with a slightly darker overdrip that has curdled beautifully on the vase. There is very-light peppering in the glaze. The piece shows evidence of gentle use but is very clean both inside and out. Check out all 7 photos! This stunning vase exhibits great Mission design and would look amazing in your favorite display cabinet. It would also be perfect for any Rookwood or American art pottery collector.
