I purchased this wonderful armadillo eating a lizard in Oaxaca, Mexico in 2003. It is signed by the artist Gloria Morales. It was all carved from one piece of Copal wood except the tail is added. This armadillo has amazing colors an...d patterns. It is a nice large piece with many different colors - perfect to display anywhere. Imagine trying to carve the armadillo and lizard from one piece of wood! Dimensions: Length 16 in / 41 cm Width 6.5 in / 7 cm Height 8.5 in / 22 cm Materials: Copal wood, Acrylic paint.
I am selling my personal alebrije collection. I purchased my pieces in Oaxaca, Mexico in 2003 - many were purchased from the artists at their home studios. Alebrijes are vividly colored animals are usually carved from one piece of Copal wood that only grows in Mexico and then painstakingly painted with great detail using acrylic paints.
