I purchased this wonderful rooster in Oaxaca, Mexico in 2003 from the famous alebrije woodcarver Carlos Morales. It was carved from one piece of Copal wood. This bird has an attitude with his head down and wings spread. It is a great size piece with m...any bright colors - perfect to display anywhere. Notice the intricate feather detail and the gorgeous light blue and purple tail feathers. Dimensions: Length 8.5 in / 22 cm Width 7.5 in / 19 cm Height 5.5 in / 14 cm Materials: Copal wood, Acrylic paint.
I am selling my personal alebrije collection. I purchased my pieces in Oaxaca, Mexico in 2003 - many were purchased from the artists at their home studios. Alebrijes are vividly colored animals are usually carved from one piece of Copal wood that only grows in Mexico and then painstakingly painted with great detail using acrylic paints.
