1979 Gibson ES - 347 Vintage American Tobacco Sunburst
Item History & Price
This guitar has literally sat in it's case for the last 40 years and is in incredible condition.
Up for sale, a 1979 Gibson ES-347 in excellent condition and in perfect working order. The ES-347 is a guitar that stands on its own with a host of unique features, theES- 347 includes dual Gibson humbuckers, a coil tap switch, TP-6 tailpiece, and slab ebony fretboard. Th...e TP-6 delivers the ability to fine tune any string on your guitar in seconds. Micro-adjustment tuners and carefully crafted gears and saddles allow for smooth string movement and precise tuning ability. The all maple body and neck construction lends the semi-hollow body a certain attack, tempered by the airy, smooth qualities of the hollow body wings. The ebony fretboard keeps things glassy and articulate, and this ES-347 has a pleasing, clear acoustic tone that translates well through the pickups.
The neck has a nice full feeling C shape with good shoulder as you travel up the fretboard. The bound ebony fretboard features pearl block inlay and original frets. The frets show very little wear. The neck is arrow straight with a responsive truss rod. The original brass nut measures 1 11/16" in width and the headstock is fitted with the original Gibson-branded gold tuning machines. Due to a very minor flaw in the neck finish the guitar was stamped as a second. If I didn't point out the flaw you probably couldn't find it.
All of the electronics work as intended, with a two-way coil tap switch in a completely original wiring harness. All of the stock gold hardware is intact, including the Schaller bridge and TP-6 tailpiece, and the gold shows minimal wear. The stock pickguard, pickup rings, and all of the speed knobs are intact and original. The guitar is structurally sound with zero cracks or repairs, and the 100% original finish.
A hardshell case is included.
