ANTIQUE PETITE SONNERIE FRENCH CARRIAGE CLOCK 1/4 chiming & repeating on 2 gongn ... Click images to enlarge Description A good quality, late 19thC French carriage clock with two train mechanism striking & repeating on two gongs (petite sonnerie). The clock is offered in good working order (serviced June 2021) and with its original key & travel case. The mechanism fitted with original platform escapement.
The 8 day clock keeps good time and strikes the quarters on two gongs ting-tang style whilst on the hour it strikes the number of hours on one gong only. When the repeat button is depressed the clock will first repeat the last quarter followed by the last hour so, for example, if pressed at 4.50 the clock will first ting-tang 3 times and then strike one gong 4 times.

The item weighs 2kg before wrapping. The large clock alone stands 7.25" (18cm) high (handle raised), 3.75" (9cm) wide and 3.25" (8cm) deep.
