Dennis Kirchmann Raku Fired Studio Pottery Covered Vessel or Jar Check out this awesome studio pottery covered jar made by Indiana artist Dennis Kirchmann (1939-2017). It measures 9.25" H x 5" D and is hand signed "Kirchmann" on the bottom. It is in excellent vintage condition with no cracks, fleabites, crazing or repairs (see photos).Dennis Kirchmann earned his B.A. degree from Hastings College; an M.A. from Fort Hays Kansas State College; and an M.F.A. degree fr...om the University of Iowa in 1972. He was an instructor in the fine arts department of University of Indianapolis and the Indianapolis Art League. Kirchmann is widely collected for his thrown covered forms, pieces decorated with decals, slab forms (often two to three feet in height), and for incorporating decorations from weeds and grasses. He says, "My work evolves from a concept that man and nature are one. I try to achieve a harmonious relationship between the clay and the glazes, the designs of nature, and also the rationale, discipline and form developed by man..."
