Excellent quality original 221 year old sterling silver example, (definitely not a modern copy); classic Georgian helmet shape shape, decorated with beautiful engraved garlands and swags and with attractive reeded edge rims and with a matching reeded silver scrolled handle. Rests on a fine square pedestal base. There are no added personal engraved monograms or crests. Nice heavy silver weight, approx 127 grams. Measurements Great size, measures approx. 5.95 inches (149mm) in height (including handle), x 4.7 inches (120mm) in length, (from handle to spout), and is 2.75 inches (70mm) wide. Date English antique late 18th century Georgian solid sterling silver, with a full set of silver hallmarks for London 1798 (date letter "C"). Good clear struck early marks and includes the silver duty stamp of King George the Third.Maker Silversmiths initials "S H" for the London silver-maker Solomon Hougham - (1792-1812). Condition Lovely antique condition and ready to be used. No splits or cracks, definitely no wear holes and no nasty knocks or dents. Possible teeny little repair on the bottom handle join, really nothing and a very nice example. Beautiful helmet shape and definitely not one of much copied later re-productions. Handsome large size, with a heavy silver weight and with no engraved monograms or crests.
