Up for auction is this early and rare Auman Pottery NC basket vase. This is the largest Auman basket I have ever seen, and I've been chasing down old NC pots for over 20 years. It stands 14" tall by 10" long and 6.5" wide at the rim. Usually these Auman pots fire out more of a yellow color, but when you fire a kiln with wood, you don't always get uniform temperatures. This one was either a little underfired or possibly just in a cooler spot in the kiln. It has some really nice cobalt b...lue splotches on it, and the condition is near mint. I see no damages, and there are no repairs. It could use a light cleaning, but I'll leave that up to the buyer.
