This is a Japanese WWll sword in civilian mountings. The blade is signed "Seki ju Kanematsu Kanetatsu saku 関住兼松兼達作", shinogi-zukuri shape with bohi engravings, WWll time period made blade. Kanetatsu`s lived in Seki city, Gifu prefecture, made swords during WWll time and after the war, made sword as a Gendai smith, listed in John Slough`s book page 68. The blade is hand forged, in old ful...l polish, no rust, no stain and in near mint condition. The temper line is wavy gunome-choji temper pattern throughout the blade and has deep temper at the point. Forging grain is tight ko-itame hada, no openings, no blister and no forging flaws at all. There is no bend, no nick, no crack and cutting edge is sharp. It is mounted in civilian mountings, the scabbard is aogai-chirashi finish lacquered wood scabbard, no crack, no bend and in good condition. The handle is tight fit with brass fuchi/kashira, tsuka-ito wrapping is no cut, no loose also in good condition. Tsuba is mokko shape flower motif engraved brass tsuba with nice patina. It measures 28+3/8" tip to the guard, 27+3/8" cutting edge, 1+3/16" width, 7 mm thickness at the notch and 39" in mountings.
