War 2. Theblade represents the opportunity to own a historic Shinto wakizashi, ca. 1600s, from the Bungo school. Theblade and the mountings are in Excellentcondition. The sword is a wakizashi and has a blade length of 21 inches (53cm).It shows a highly visible itame hadathat mixes with a running straight masame. The hamon is a straight suguha hamon. The hamon is present thelength of the blade through the kissaki where it ends in a maru boshi. There are activities like ko-gunome and ashi in andalong the hamon.The tang is mumei, or unsigned, and ubu, or unshortened.Based on the shape and workmanship, the sword looks to come from a school like Bungo Takata working in the early tomid 1600s. Swords from Bungo were known for being strong and good for combat. The blade comes in wooden shirasaya. It is in Excellent condition. The blade is in Excellent condition. There are no nicks, a few smallscattered spots of rust, and just a few scratches along its length. There are acouple small ware and some areas ofloose grain. There do not appear to be any major flaws like hagire.Given the swords history and quality, I think this piece would be an excellentaddition for a collector of WW2 militaria or Japanese swords.Terms and additional items: This item is original and not aknockoff or fake.
