Original Description:

Very small late 19th century needlework c.1890 or slightly later. Worked in a lustrous thread on dark blue velvet, this little needlework is completely charming with fine quality stitch work throughout. The centre of the velvet is stitched with a tied floral bouquet comprising of a variety of flowers both in bud and full bloom.The needlework is behind glass so I'm not able to see its reverse, but the blue of the velvet is still rich with some slightly paler areas along the bottom e...dge. The colours of the thread appear good though they are likely to have mellowed to some extent over the years. The sampler is contained within a good quality late 20th century frame with gilt slip. Both are in good condition with the odd light scratch and scuff mark commensurate with their age.Measures 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" (sight size) and 9 1/4" x 9 1/4" including the frame.
PLEASE NOTE - ANY MARKS ETC ON THE PHOTOS WHICH I'VE NOT ALREADY MENTIONED ARE FROM THE GLARE AND REFLECTION OF THE GLASS AND NOT ON THE SAMPLER ITSELF.
