Original Description:
Mid/late 19th century needlework - c.1860 or slightly later. Worked in wool on a dark blue felt background, this needlework is completely charming with fine quality stitch work throughout. The backing cloth is stitched with an impressive floral garland comprised of flowers both in bud and full bloom.The backing felt has retained its colour well and has a small area of damage to the middle of the right side edge and a very small area of thinning by the side of the leaves on the upper ri...ght side of the garland. The colours of the wool have mellowed over the years but the effect is still a pleasing one. The last photo is of the reverse of the needlework and indicates how rich the colours would have been when it was first stitched. This photograph also shows some small remnants of glue around the edges of the backing felt from where the needlework has been glued down at some point of time. The edges of the cloth have also been cut at some point of time.Measures 13 3/4" x across 14"
