Censored by ‘Matsuoka’. Written “Thank you for your letter. Ireceived your letter informing you got success. I also received letter fromKiyom...i. I can’t find out which season is it now. I suppose that you enjoyedreturning in January, didn’t you? It seems that Kiyomi is very pleased as he isengaged in serious duty now. I received letter from Sachio. It seems that he isvery busy. I stop writing today.” ‘Umi’ meant Infantry 48th Division. Infantry 48th Division served inPhillipines from December 1941 to January 1942, at next it served in Java as ‘JavaDispatch’ from January to August 1942. At last, it served in Timor Island as'Northern Austrasia Dispatch’ from September 1942 to the end of WWII.
