But take care ...of yourself, please. Fact is easier than wethought, I’m trying to do my best. Life is decided. Please don’t take care ofme. Health is the most important matter. I wish you all may be fine. I try todo my best for fighting.” ‘Umi’ meant Infantry 48th Division. Infantry 48th Division served inPhillipines from December 1941 to January 1942, at next it served in Java as ‘JavaDispatch’ from January to August 1942. At last, it served in Timor Island asNorthern ‘Austrasia Dispatch’ from September 1942 to the end of WWII.
