Exquisitely executed, antique circa 1900, Royal Vienna porcelain portrait plate, slightly scalloped. Depicting Daphne, in a lavender gown with a wreath of laurel leaves. Daphne, a dryad in Greek mythology, was the daughter of the river god Peneus. The plate displays a deep cobalt blue border with extensive gilt detail. The gold motif is raised and felt-to-the-touch. Signed Kern by top area of the dress. The backside shows a blue crown and the letter "D" in a upper case letter. Th...e name Daphne is written in free-hand.
