Very Rare and original, ca1900 Native American Northern Plains Indian, larger size, Hand Carved Catlinite Pipe Bowl.
This outstanding, turn of the 20th century Pipestone Carved Pipe Bowl measures approx. 7 1/4" long overall and 3 3/4” tall and features a “T-form” construction with a beveled anterior projection and cube form throat. The upright bowl features a gradually flared form – wider at the top than at the base. The form is beautiful and the Pip...e Bowl impressive.
This very rare and very beautiful, ca1900 Northern Plains Catlinite Pipe Bowl is beautiful but unfortunately was broken sometime in the past and has been repaired at a point anterior to the bowl. There is no other damage other than that break and repair although there is some darkening to the top surface of the bowl from use (see the scans below). The surface exhibits a rich and warm, age appropriate patina. It is carved from a single piece of Pipestone and is very beautiful.
A very rare and original, ca1900 Native American Northern Plains Indian, larger size, Carved Catlinite Pipe Bowl and even though it was damaged a long time ago and repaired, still a fine addition to any collection!!!
