It tells the story of the Fall of Man, a tale of immense drama and excitement, of rebellion and treachery, of innocence pitted against corruption, in which God and Satan fight a bitter battle for control of mankind's destiny. The struggle rages across three worlds - heaven, hell, and earth - as Satan and his band of rebel angels plot their revenge against God. At the center of the conflict are Adam and Eve, motivated by all too human temptations, but whose ultimate downfall is unyielding love.
This large book stands 9 3/4" high x 6 1/2" wide, and its 858 pages give it a thickness of 2 1/4". It's bound in full embossed brown leather with Milton's name in gold on both the front and rear covers. There are several tissue-protected steel engraved illustrations and all the page edges are gold. The book is in good condition with wear to the leather along the spine sides and corners, some scuffing, and a cracked front hinge. The title on the spine has worn off. The text is clean and tightly bound.
