Original Description:
Presented for your consideration is a lovely French portrait plate 7 1/4" in diameter. It is part of a set which features "stars" and this one is "Saturne, the fixed star." The lovely lady is in the clouds and she is holding a beaming star in her hands. The perimeter of the plate has hand painted scrolling leaves in a teal blue with much gilding. The plate is not marked with a company mark, but I believe it is Sevres. The scalloped shape is one often found of Sevres and the quality of... the porcelain and painting are excellent. The piece does have stamped numbers int he porcelain--859/51, and it has a cross stamped into the porcelain also. The plate is one of five in the series which I have. It is in fine condition with no chips, cracks or gold or paint loss. Beautiful Sevres Porcelain 7 1/4" Portrait Plate Depicting Saturn The Fixed Star
