The competitive world of Parisian porcelain making in the 19th century produced an era of superb quality. Paris hosted many studios known for producing exceptionally beautiful and highly coveted porcelain wares.
These bowls are part of a Paris porcelain service, purchased at an estate sale full of high-end china and crystal, that is being sold separately. Althou...gh the other pieces in the set are also unmarked, its teapot, sugar bowl and creamer are in the exact shapes and sizes of an authenticated "tete-à-tete" tea service for two that was produced in Paris and decorated by one of the many studios in and around rue de la Paix in the mid-1800s.
Design: These exquisite bowls feature rich gold scrollwork and are trimmed in gold. Finely hand-painted multi-colored flowers decorate the rims.
Size and weight: The bowls are 4 1/2 inches wide and 7/8 inch tall. Together they weigh 8.1 ounces.
Condition: There are no nicks, chips, cracks, repairs, stains or significant scratches. One bowl has a tiny dark spot near the center that was created in the manufacturing process and is typical of porcelain of this era. There is light wear to the gold edges. One bowl has a faint star crack at the center; it's shown in the photo with the penny.
