Signed while former 1st US Secretary of War and Revolutionary War General Benjamin Lincoln served as collector of customs for the port of Charlestown and Boston in 1797, this 9.5 by 7.5" sealed document attests to the citizenship of seaman Peter Robinson (of Hingham Massachusetts) at a time when the English were impressing American seamen.
